This is the same question that I asked when I joined the group since I had heard that it was possible. Not only that, but I had stem cell injections for both knees and am so thankful that it worked. It was almost a year before I realized that it worked since the cells need time to grow. Some doctors would only do the injections if you used your own cells (but mine were 70 years old and I thought they weren't working) and others insisted that older patients use fresh young stem cells. In that case there could be the rejection of cells and more complications Since I also suffer from severe neuropathy and spinal stenosis, I am trying to save for stem cell treatment in my back since it is not covered by insurance. But in the last 10 years with my knees, BC/BS saved a lot of money from not having injections every couple of months, doctor appointments, XRays, and therapy. I have been suffering for over 50 years of back and shoulder pain after too many surgeries on my back, neck, and shoulders. But I would be first in line to try the stem cells for my AMD.
