My Doctor Did Not Tell Me That The Atrophy In One Of My Eyes Was A Worsening Of My Dry AMD. Did Your Doctor Give You More Information?
My doctor didn't tell me that atrophy in my eye was a worsening of dry AMD. In fact, he did not even tell me I had dry AMD. (I knew I had wet AMD.) That is why I found a better retina specialist on Healthgrades.com. I was told I had Geographic Atrophy a few months ago.
I'm sorry to hear about the confusion with your doctor. That sounds really frustrating. π Dry AMD can be tricky to understand, and it's so important to get clear info from your healthcare team.
I think atrophy in AMD means the cells in the retina are gradually dying off, which can worsen vision. There's also things like diet, supplements, and protecting eyes from UV light to help manage it.
Have you been able to get a follow-up appointment to ask more questions? Maybe even jotting down a list of concerns to bring with you could help. How are you feeling about it all?
